A little bit about me...
Teaching with Purpose. Leading with Heart. Transforming Classrooms and Communities.
Herky Cutler is a passionate educator, facilitator, and coach who has dedicated his life to inspiring meaningful learning experiences for students, teachers, and school leaders. With a career that bridges education, career development, youth service and leadership, Herky empowers educators to not only teach—but to truly transform the lives of those they serve.
Known for his energetic, hands-on approach to professional learning, Herky brings classrooms and staff rooms to life. His workshops and training sessions are more than just educational—they’re experiential, practical, and deeply empowering. Educators walk away with tools they can use immediately, strategies that spark engagement, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Herky's work is rooted in his own diverse background: as a business owner, school program facilitator, and founder of Foothills Youth & Family Services Inc. He has worked extensively with young people, including those facing emotional and behavioral challenges, giving him a grounded, compassionate understanding of what students truly need—and how educators can reach them.
At the heart of Herky’s philosophy is the belief that every learner—and every teacher—has something unique to offer. He encourages educators to embrace their individuality, to lead with authenticity, and to create learning environments where creativity, collaboration, and courage thrive.
In his book Get F.I.T. Go Far, Herky introduces the F.I.T. model—Future. Identity. Team.—a powerful framework for building strong school cultures, deepening staff alignment, and creating classrooms where both students and teachers can flourish.
Educators who work with Herky describe his sessions as “inspiring,” “transformative,” and “unlike anything else.” He fosters trust, fuels motivation, and makes professional development feel meaningful—and even fun.
Through his teaching, coaching, and leadership, Herky Cutler continues to help educators reignite their passion, refine their practice, and lead learning with impact.
Because when teachers grow, students soar.

What people are saying...

“ The wit and wisdom you provided for us as a keynote speaker, trainer and lunchtime entertainer at the Arkansas Career Guidance Association was very well received by everyone. Your anecdotal view from personal awareness and surveys of youth and employers regarding generational differences or the lack thereof was eye-opening to our audience of career guidance teachers.
It provided great inspiration and insight into the treatment and training of Gen-Y students. Thanks for enlightening us in Arkansas.”
- Ray Henson, Program Coordinator, State of Arkansas Department of Career Education

“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the support, encouragement, and guidance I received during this course. A special thank you, Herky, for your exceptional teaching in the Facilitating Learning section.
Your ability to model what effective facilitation looks like; clear communication, inclusive practice, and thoughtful feedback was inspiring. You created a learning space that was both structured and welcoming, and you encouraged us to find our own voice as facilitators.
Thank you for making this experience so meaningful.”
- Mohit Dhingra - Student at Douglas College

“ Herky is a pro! His very dynamic presentation on taking risks brought up the energy level on our staff retreat day, and left us with something to think about. I appreciated that Herky spent time beforehand asking lots of questions and getting to know our organization, what we do, the people in it, and what our staff retreat day was all about.
He had never been on our campus before yet, because of his prior “research” he seemed already familiar with who we are. Thanks again Herky for bringing your message and ideas to our event!”
- Darcy Smereka
St. Mary’s University

"Herky, with little notice, customized a musical team building experience for 60+ of our leaders at Lethbridge College. And we couldn’t have asked for a better more worthwhile activity that promoted risk taking and team building in a fun relaxed atmosphere."
- Dr. Tracy L. Edwards, President and CEO, Lethbridge College

“Creative and innovative/ Excellent presenter and topic/This was the best presentation I’ve seen so far!/ Could have listened and talked about the subject all day/ Engaging, thoughtful, practical, inspiring/ Great instructor, fun presentation, yet very powerful.”
